I received an interesting letter in the mail last week. The letter talks about the Middle School and the problems that have been happening during the year. I would love to follow up with the person who wrote it, but s/he didn't sign a name.
My e-mail is carr0629@hotmail.com If you'd like to contact me. I can promise you that I would never use your name on this blog. I've talked with lots of people because of this blog, and I never disclose who they are, unless I have their permission.
The entire reason I started this blog was because of the rumors I heard about the Middle School. And after all the posts, e-mails, talking with people in town, and meeting with the Superintendent, I'm still not sure what to believe. I've heard everything from "it's the worst school on earth" to "the teachers at CMS are the most caring human beings on the planet". Honestly, I think the truth is probably somewhere in between.
I keep thinking back to when I was in school. My hometown had problems with the school system too. I went to an elementary school that ended up being K-7. I don't remember thinking that I was getting an awful education, or being upset that we had limited space. I just went to school, and eventually graduated, and went on to college.
So what I'm figuring out from everyone's feedback over the past year, is that we can't panic because our school system isn't perfect. But we can't hide our heads either. Again, I think the truth is somewhere in between. I think we need to be as involved with our children's education as much as we can (and that level is different for everyone).
I don't want to view the schools as an overwhelming problem. I don't know about you, but when I feel overwhelmed, I avoid the problem. It's scary to tackle something that's bigger than you.
Instead, I'd rather view the schools as a work in progress. In my eyes, that's a more manageable approach, and a lot less scary.
This blog is much better with your input. So what do you think? What are your views? What are your suggestions?
Everyone does not like to hear, Schools need increased Financial support, that is one major issue in all our Clinton Schools, We cannot succeed without current textbooks, technology, and support of educational needs. CMS has it's issues yes that is true unfortunately, Change needs to occur at CMS, we had the addition of a new VP this year Mr. Rouleau and he has brought many good incentives and changes to CMS his experience has definitely been a good thing for CMS , CMS principal who is also first year in the position is a lovely person, is educationally qualified, but in my opinion she would be a far better fit for the position of CES principal, and CMS could benefit by placing Mr. Rouleau as CMS principal and moving Mrs. Anne Marie Sargent to Clinton Elementary Principal position. Middle School children need to learn responsibility, be accountable for their actions, and be given challenges and goals during their middle school years. There has been too many recreational, fun, events at CMS this year. she would be the perfect fit for the Elementary age child. With this move we would have three principals all well qualified in our schools, Mr. Hastings CHS couldn't ask for a better principal, Mr. Rouleau at CMS- has the understanding of Middle School children and Mrs. Anne Marie Sargent at the Elementary Then we only need two new Vice Principal positions filled. We would have experience in all our schools at the principal level. Teachers need support at CMS, from their principal and by the community ,unfortunately I have seen a big teacher morale problem this year with some of the changes put into effect by Mrs. Sargent, I see alot of teacher frustration and feelings of being non supported and feelings of favoritism over educationally strong teachers. I do not mean any of this in a negative manner, I honestly feel these would be good changes for all concerned. 1. put administrators in their area of expertise and within the age group they are more comfortable with. 2. Financially support our schools needs 3. Encourage our teachers , show respect for them and stop friendships favoritism, those kinds of actions drive teachers out of our schools. 4. Encourage our students to grow academically, and socially, encourage our students to have PRIDE in their school, give them the tools they need for future success.
ReplyDeleteWould be interested in knowing what problems at CMS the original letter sent to you had to offer. Hope you are going to submit the letter to Mr. Ingano as well as any ideas or suggestions put forth on your web page.
