This is just a quick post to respond to some of the recent comments I've seen.
I want you all to know that I welcome all comments (as long as there is no name calling or stuff like that). The positive and negative comments are both welcome. And positive and negative elements do exist in the schools.
The purpose of my last post (Let's Hear The Good Stuff Too) was to make sure that all comments were heard. I do believe that there are issues that need to be addressed and talked about. But it was getting a little unbalanced so I decided to invite the positive comments too.
But again, I don't want just one kind of posting here. All postings are welcomed.
Also, I keep seeing the question "does the administration read this blog?". My answer is I don't know. My suspicion is that they do (at least some of them). And I send some of your comments to Mr. Ingano when I think it's warranted.
My hope is that over time, they'll understand that this is a good place to find out about concerns, and respond in some way. Maybe not by posting, but by taking action on different things. Time will tell.
In the meantime, I think we just keep asking, and pointing things out. And letting everyone know about the good things too. If this blog starts being viewed as the place to go, then maybe the administration will start taking notice.
One step at a time. No meaningful change is ever fast. We have to keep at it.
Carrie, Great attempt at bringing things to the surface and trying to make a difference.
ReplyDeleteI see many posts especially on CMS and Large class and Fire. I see not so great responses from Mr. Ingano. Have you tried sending an email to the school committee, asking them to read this blog? I believe you can do that I think their email is on the Clinton Public School web page. Would not hurt to try.
Hi, Yes I have done that. No response yet. I'm giving them some time to get back to me, and then I'll probably try a different approach.
DeleteYou are wonderful to put so much effort into helping the schools.
ReplyDeletethank you
Saw this site posted on the discussion page about the new business manager, so looked for a spot on this blog that might address my feelings at this moment. I read the discussion first and I was appauled at the lack of consideration for everyones feelings about their experiences with the middle school, and how they felt about comments, concerns, and so forth. To out right Ask people and accuse them of what are they drinking, must be something vile. that is just awful. I saw people trying to voice true concerns and think about how others felt and concerns for children in our schools. I saw people condemn them, talk unkind, and whenever I saw someone back that up today,it showed me I am making a good choice to stay out of it. If that is how people get treated that might not see things as perfect, why would anyone get involved. Life is great, schools are tremendous, problem free, and everyone in administration, is perfect. I hope everyone in town follows their opinions and when the next vote shows up for money, they get it, but I doubt they will. that is just terrible,to talk to others that way. I am glad to see some people had great first days and so forth, but maybe others did not. I personally think there is always two sides to every story. I apologize for posting this on this site as I know you are not responsible for the town discussion page, but I was afraid to post it on that page.
ReplyDeleteYou're always welcome to post on this blog. Thanks for taking the time to write your post.
ReplyDeleteWhy is the school committee page on the district web page not current or complete? Last entry and many prior are just agenda's that are extremly limited as to information. Last mtg minutes are August 7th and that is minimal information to none. Look at this weeks agenda 9/11 Action Item Business Manager
ReplyDeleteDiscussion Items, none listed, Amazing! people have asked questions, voiced concerns, on this blog and publically and no one is answering or even addressing apparently. Or if you get an answer it's an excuse or refusing to admit these things exist.
I feel so bad for the children. they are the only ones who will suffer because all these issues are kicked under the rug.
ReplyDeletesaw the discussion on the discussion page, about Facebook - Facebook is a bad communication tool in my opinion. first of all you need a facebook account, second of all most people work and you cannot be on facebook.
ReplyDeleteFacebook has alot of security issues. Mr. Ingano stated he would update the web pages, so far only attempt I see is High School page, He promised a monthly newsletter also, have not see anything worth reading or informative to the issues. I think this blog is a nice way for parents to voice opinions without getting bad things said about them on other pages.
They could consider doing what they said update the web pages, send out the newsletter, maybe you could assist them in upgrading their pages, to include a question and answer page on their site. If people could ask without fear of reprecussions you would see exactly what you see here. Or have them incooporate your blog as part of their communication, but they have to read and respond.
Curious, who started this page, and does administration respond on it? or is it just people talking about their complaints and great news on another facebook page? If this is a school page how come I cannot find it on their web page. am I missing it somewhere?
ReplyDeleteHi, I started this page. My name is Carrie McFarland. You can read a little more about why I started it on the "about me" tab. And to answer your question - no, this is not an official school website/blog. When I first started it, I know that Mr. Ingano followed it, however, I don't know if that's the case any longer. I do bring things to his attention from time to time, and other administration as well. But it's ultimately up to them if they want to respond.
DeleteI do think some administration follows this blog, but I have no real way of knowing.
My hope is that the information, questions, concerns, etc posted on this site, will get on their radar and hopefully it will be the first step in a shift of thinking and the outcome will be positive change.
I agree and support this blog. But I absolutely disagree with the parent volunteer facebook page that just relates to middle school and note on the discussion page it clearly states for middle school, -CPS are all schools. Facebook is very risky in my opinion. Keep this blog going and hopefully good things will come out of it. when I read started by a parent volunteer, Mrs. Sargent and a few teachers. thats an example in my opinion of what is wrong right now in the middle school -if your not in that circle you are third man out. they need to form a team of all.
