Here are responses to some
of your questions/concerns. This information is from Mr. Ingano.
WINDOWS
Just some background about the windows. The windows were not a grant--they were a capital improvement for the schools at the annual town meeting. During the meeting the article was approved by the voters of Clinton.
The windows are coming to
CMS, but the process is long and involved. We had to wait until the start of
the fiscal year, it then had to be advertised for "x" number of
weeks, and then we just opened the bids last week. We had four bids presented
by three different bidders. Mike Ward is now looking over the bids for legal
purposes, as he is the official procurement officer of the Town of Clinton.
The job is for about 70 windows--strictly in the back of the middle school.
BBQ & SCHEDULES
We haven’t heard any
negative feedback about the BBQ. And as far as schedules, please remember that
we have ONE administrator--a brand new one--at CMS right now. And the new VP
will not be able to start until later. I'm sure the BBQ will not be the only time
that schedules, etc. are available. Please contact Annmarie Sargent for more
information on this.
Also, each of the schools is planning some type of orientation for students and parents. These will be held during the week. The reason we don’t hold them on a weekend is because it would possibly conflict with sports practice.
I-PARENT
I-Parent is not set up yet--there will be a new "Acceptable Use Policy" for I-Parent that parents will have to "accept"; not all schools have their schedules ready yet--kids still signing up--school choice kids still coming in. Events are listed, depending upon the school. Please check individual school sites AND the district sites.
BACK TO SCHOOL BOOKFAIR
There will be a "Back to School Book Fair" in the Central Office (Superintendent's building) this Saturday and Sunday. This is being put on by Scholastic Books and the Clinton PTA. Get the kids thinking about school, buy them a book at a real bargain price.
Saturday Aug 18 9am – 2pm; Sunday Aug 19 9am – 12pm
so windows not till ??? during the school year while children are attending school, or a vacation week when we need to heat the building. No negatives about the BBQ - I read a few on this blog actually. It's not needed and a waste of money when the school needs necessities. New administrator Terry come on- She has been vice principal for quite awhile and has done alot of the summer work while in that role. If she did not drag her feet maybe our new vice principal would not be "starting until later" he could have given his resignation earlier in his prior position. We knew who our principal was beginning of July. Maybe some vacation time could have been eliminated (or used up after the vice principal position was interviewed and decided upon) Also Terry sports practice (related to the clinton public schools IS NOT ON WEEKENDS)
ReplyDeleteWe the clinton public schools are not part of youth football. Never saw youth football think about the public schools. Might not be an appreciated comment by a few who read this site but it is very very true - I have actually witnessed youth football back stab the clinton public schools.
This is in response to this portion of your post "Also Terry sports practice (related to the clinton public schools IS NOT ON WEEKENDS)"
DeleteI changed "possibly interfere with Clinton football or soccer, etc" to "possibly conflict with sports practice".
So I will take the heat for that one. I shouldn't have changed it.
Note: this is on the CMS site regarding the BBQ
ReplyDeleteNOT FREE We will also be having a “Welcome Back to School Barbecue” so bring a blanket, lawn chair, sunscreen and look forward to a fun time. There is a small fee of $3.00. We look forward to having as many staff and students as possible
Does Mr Ingano read this page? I see multiple comments -and even negatives also regarding the BBQ. Had to laugh actually when the scholastic book fair Mr. Ingano states Get the kids thinking about school, buy them a book.
ReplyDeleteLast I looked they all had summer reading to do.so I guess one week before school is not the time to start thinking about it.
Never once saw Clinton YOUTH football worry about the public school functions or practices. Also saw YOUTH football utilizing school owned football equipment the other day when I was riding by the High School. Who bought that equipment (I would say the school not youth football) Also worries me if those small children got hurt utilizing that equipment who is liable?? Just kind of don't understand why the school is working around non school functions.
ReplyDeleteyouth football has their own equipment. They DO NOT use school equipment.. In the past few weeks CHS players had captain practices and they were using CHS equipment which they are entitled to do.. before you make comments on what you see you need to get ALL the information and not assume
DeleteAgree with the above comments ! Windows -installed during the school year? New Vice Principal , not until later, when is later and why did we not plan ahead Mr. Vetros left in May. Any business manager yet, saw they were interviewing again, nothing about hired anyone yet. Disappointed in Mr. Inganos responses to questions, sounds non productive and not all schools have their schedules ready yet, kind of sad.
ReplyDeletethis was posted on CMS site principal message last week ! We have many great activities planned for this coming school year. Students in grades 4, 5 and 6 had an opportunity to meet their teacher’s before leaving in June. Grade 7 and 8 will be looking at many changes in their schedule. Schedules for these students will be made available through I Parent as well as in the main office beginning Monday. (yesterday was monday went to pick up schedule was told not ready or printed for my childs grade level yet- (just love wasting my time)But what slip this under the rug also and say Mrs. Sargent is New and alone as one administrator.
ReplyDeleteFYI CMS 7th grade schedules STILL NOT DONE !
ReplyDeleteBut we had time for a BBQ
you people amaze me. you complain that the schools have no connection with the community, but when they try to do something for the students and parents with no cost to you, people complain. If you think you can do better then go and talk to someone and do something about it. We complain about bullying in our schools what about the adult bullies who are all talk, complain and do nothing to contribute? The people who are brave with comments behind a computer are cowards. a person who gets involved, asks how they can help are heros to me. unfortunately no matter what good the schools, their administrators or teachers try to do it still wont be good enough for some people. We wonder why kids are rude and disrespectful, look at some of the responses by some of these parents, that should tell you why kids are they way they are
DeleteWe picked up my daughters 7th grade schedule at the BBQ. it was not ready at 11:00 but at about 1:00 we were able to get it. Also yesterday I went onto iparent and the schedule is there.
ReplyDeleteIt is a new type of schedule. A 7 day week. It seems like 3rd period I'd empty on my daughters schedule and there are two empty spaces...I am sure this will all be worked out. However an explanation of the new schedule would have been nice.
Consider yourself a lucky one to even get an attempted schedule, but like you said it is rather incomplete.- That is unsatisfactory preformance in my opinion. If you are going to implement something new, you make sure it has been presented and explained, and you should not put out incomplete documents. to accept oh it will get worked out, in my opinion is unacceptable that puts students and teachers in a disorganized state day one, so we waste valuable teaching time working out a schedule that should have been correct day one.
Deletenot a 7th grade issue but my 4th graders schedule has them in gym class being held in the cafeteria ?? and one class has no teacher listed? (are any of these schedules complete or correct?) Just wonder if anyone is watching what is going on at CMS?
Deletewhat's going to happen in the middle school this year if all these schedules are wrong or incomplete? Are our children going to be moved from classes they are currently scheduled in, how long before they know where they belong and what teacher they have and what is expected of them? Sounds like oh lets just put out a schedule and fix it after we start school. Lets just get something out the door to keep parents quiet. Also sounds like new principal is overwhelmed and maybe trying to change too many things at once.
DeleteCorrect ! Professional, accurate, documents should be presented. Not incomplete or subject to change schedules should be given out. Emergency situations that need adjustments fine, but not routine scheduling.
DeleteI would like to see a response to the incomplete schedules and apparent disorganization at CMS from Mr. Ingano and what he is doing to fix these matters. Also would like to know when Mr. Rouleau is starting as vice principal of the middle school. We cannot keep giving excuses for things, like new principal, alone, software issues and so forth, Leadership is being able to handle issues as they arise and being able to solve them it is not sitting back making excuses. School starts on wednesday next week.
DeleteThe 4th grade Art Class has no name because the teacher left and is not being replaced. Who is going to teach Art at CES and the 4th grade at CMS? Will there be Art?
ReplyDeleteAnd again...not to beat a dead horse but...what do these Special teachers do the rest of the day? They have Grade 1, 2, 3 & 4. They teach 4 classes a day. Can they help at the Middle School where it looks like my 7th grader will have gym once every 7 days and computers the rest of the week. Where are the Arts??
The last I heard, the art teacher was not being replaced; that is one of the positions that was lost due to the budget cuts. Which means, there will be no art class for CES or the 4th grade.
DeleteI believe 4th grade will have ART , honestly not sure of your other questions. Hearing and reading that Mrs. Sargent does not have the schedules complete or accurate still.
ReplyDeleteJust an fyi - the CES is not in the greatest of shape either when it comes to the upcoming years schedule, just ask a few teachers if they know what they are teaching yet. Looks like we have issue in CES and CMS - But it appears CHS is in great shape. Maybe the administration of CES and CMS needs to be looked at, instead of worrying about adding $20,000 to hire a business manager. Maybe that is where we need to start taking a look at things. I would love to hear a response from Mr. Ingano on these clearly unacceptable preformances, and I honestly am sick of old excuses or having it sweep under the rug. We have children to educate and a school to improve so we can attract students and keep the students who live in our town. I feel bad for the CMS principal and CES principal if they are hitting road blocks, but they took the job.
ReplyDeleteMaybe time to start posting on the Clinton discussion page. Doesn't appear any of these issues are being addressed.
