Nice additions and positions returned, Noted nice picture of Mrs. Anne Marie Sargent and Mr. Rouleau (why don't they post that on the CMS web page) Also just noted on the CES web page welcome by the principal - kind of sad there are missed spelled words on that welcome, and should probably sign her name Mrs. Geraldine Sargent, instead of just Mrs. Sargent (seeing as we have two principals named Mrs. Sargent. (would help to not create confusion of who is who) - Not such a big deal and I am sure some will just say oh just a few typo mistakes, (but this is an education page) should have proof read it. Second time recently the CES page has posted kind of a poor presentation.
Carrie, does Mr. Ingano ever read this blog ? seems very unhappy people with the CMS - valid complaints they have. Can only hope Mr. Rouleau arrives quickly I do believe he will be a great improvement to the school. Not so sure we selected the right principal after reading all these complaints.
Does the middle school principal have a 90 day trial in her position (like most everyday people do?) and if performance is not adequate they can let her go, like you or me? Start date was July 1, 2012 I believe it was stated somewhere on this blog. Just curious if there are any options if a mistake has been made.
I'm working on responses to your posts. More to come tomorrow.
As for the BBQ at the Middle School, I don't really know anything about it, but I "hear" your frustration with the concept of it.
I just think that even though there are probably some things about it that can be criticized (which is really true of anything), why not take it for what it is. I think CMS just wanted to do something fun for the kids and their families. Sure, there are probably things that could have been executed better, but I don't think the new principal should be judged on this one event.
I think your blog is a great place for people to talk about the joys and frustrations of the Clinton School System. The one thing that I think the school falls on its face on is communication. I bring up issues on the forums, but every time I bring up something negative, the people there decide to personally attack me. Mostly because I am bringing up issues that need resolutions, and they don't like issues.
For what its worth, Here is my take on the situation ( And I have had kids in the system a long time). I EXPECT EXCELLENCE (Or at least COMPETENCE) from the schools.I EXPECT things to go RIGHT. I EXPECT that my child will be in a nurturing, healthy, safe and educational environment.
When those things don't happen, or if things are going south to achieving those objectives, I voice my opinion ( both on the forums and with the Superintendent).
I email Terry Ingano regularly. I talk to school committee members, and also talk to other parents. I have sat and offered to sit on school boards that deal with specific issues. I help whenever I can.
In this space people can be anonymous (which helps) but people also need to make their voice heard outside of these blogs and forums. Change won't happen unless enough people tell the ones in charge.
I urge all parents to talk to the principals of their schools ( I do and have) and also talk to Terry. With enough feedback, things can get better.
